We will paint along the Mediterranean and some of the mountain villages of Provence. We will paint in Arles itself several days and in some of the officially recognized "Most Beautiful Villages in France" like Lourmarin and Gordes- the village perched high in the Luberon. The lavender fields of lAbbaye de Sénanque are only 4 km away tucked in its own little valley north of Gordes. In addition, we will visit and paint in Van Gogh's asylum in St. Remy and the tiny and charming village of Eygalieres.
Lodging is in the Hotel le Calendal in the heart of old town Arles, where Van Gogh had his famous Yellow House. Our incredible hotel is just a stone's throw from the 2000 year old Roman Coliseum. Here is the link to the hotel http://www.lecalendal.com/ Don't forget to take the 360 virtual tour when you enter the site to really get a feel for the hotel.
There are several ways to get to Arles. I find the best of the alternatives for us is to fly into Paris (this usually means Charles De Gaulle airport) and then take TGV (fast train) from the airport in Paris to Arles. It's then a five minute cab ride from the train station in Arles to the hotel. I will coordinate our schedules so that we will all be on the same train riding through the gorgeous French countryside from Paris to Provence!
