Sovek has an extensive exhibition history, garnered numerous awards and prizes and has been involved with many of the leading art organizations around the country including The Salmagundi Club, The Cincinnati Art Club, The Rockport Art Association, The Mendocino Art Center and The Provincetown Art Association. He is also been recently voted an Emeritus Member of the prestigious Plein Air Painters of America.

Widely traveled, he has painted, exhibited, conducted workshops and judged shows through out United States, Canada, Mexico and numerous countries abroad. Charles Sovek's paintings are represented in countless private, corporate and museum collections.

Most recently, Sovek has had the honor of being the subject of a PBS special entitled "Plein Air Painting in America". Part of a 5-part program, the artist will represent New England, focusing on Cape Cod and its role in plein air painting today.

The artist divides his time between warm weather months in Massachusetts, exhibiting on Cape Cod at the Addison Gallery in Orleans and at the South Street Gallery in Hingham, Massachusetts. He also shows at Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta, Georgia.

Charles will be taking his class to some of the most spirited and colorful areas of Manhattan to paint this great city on location. We will choose from the following locations:Chinatown, Greewich Village, the East Village, the Lower East Side, Central Park, Battery Park and along the Hudson River. On our last day the class is invited to a wine and cheese reception in the garden of a West Village apartment!
