Judy will take her class to paint along the Mediterranean and Camargue. We will paint in Arles itself several days and in some of the officially recognized "Most Beautiful Villages in France" like Lourmarin and Gordes- the village perched high in the Luberon. In addition, we will visit and paint in Van Gogh's asylum in St. Remy, the tiny village of Eygalieres Lodging is in the Hotel le Calendal in the heart of old town Arles, where Van Gogh had his famous Yellow House. Our incredible hotel is just a stone's throw from the 2000 year old Roman Coliseum. Here is the link to the hotel http://www.lecalendal.com/ Don't forget to take the 360 virtual tour when you enter the site to really get a feel for the hotel. There are several ways to get to Arles. I find the best of the alternatives is to fly into Paris (this usually means Charles De Gaulle airport) and then take a connecting flight to Marseilles. This is a a one hour flight. You can either take the bus from the Marseille airport (Maragnane) to the Marseille train station (St. Charles) and the train ro Arles from there. You can also take a cab from Maragnane directly to the hotel - not bad if you have several people sharing the cost. Alternatively, you can take the TGV (fast train) from de Gaulle to the TGV station in Avignon and the short bus ride to Arles. Depending on peoples' arrival times I will try and arrange pick up at the airport in Marseilles. Much will depend on peoples' arrival times at Maragnane. If we can get people arriving at approximately the same time then we can transport you to Arles. Either way, you WILL wind up in this absolutely incredible hotel!
