For professional plein air painters wanting to learn more about painting to novices who would just like to learn to record their journey in a travel sketch journal, this work shop is for you. Join Vito, an enthusiastic teacher who will demo in oil and also take the time to show some of you how to create a lasting memory with a travel journal, complete with sketches ( with easy to travel with mediums including pencil pen and watercolor) ticket stubs and memorabilia and creative writing. Make this workshop a memory that lasts a lifetime!

Henry Meininger and Phil Levine welcome you to one of the greatest wine producing regions of the world and a province known for its art treasures and hill top chateaux. We will stay in Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy and centrally located in the magical Cote d'Or. Beaune is famous for its numerous wine cellars, great restaurants and cafes, its 15th century "hospices" and masterpieces of Flemish-Burgundian architecture.

We'll visit the chateau of Gevrey-Chambertin located between Dijon and Nuits-Saint-Georges where we will paint in the vineyards of this 1000 year old chateau, take a tour or their cellars and taste some of their special grand cru and premier cru wines. We will be visiting a variety of locations discovering many of the profound cultural and gastronomic charms Dijon has to offer, the 'perfect' village of Besançon with its remarkable art museum, the mountaintop villages of Chateuneuf - home of some great views and even greater Boeuf Bouguignon.

the marché aux vins - which you will NOT miss!

We are lodging in the 3 star Best Western Henry ll
which is a 5 minute walk into the center of the town of Beaune.

We will get an incredible English language tour of the house of Bichot in Nuits St Georges. Bichot is one of the most well-run and quality wine houses in all of France. The tour is always followed by a wine tasting amd then lunch in the village.

the Marché aux Vins, is the best way to sample its impressive wines. You pay around $12 for a wine-tasting cup (yours to keep) and get 45 minutes to sip, although the time limit is rarely enforced — especially if you look like a serious buyer. Plunge into the labyrinth of candlelit caves dotted with 18 barrels, each offering a new tasting experience.

our hotel at night

We'll be taking a charter bus from the airport in Paris directly to our lodging and have buses take us to the variety of painting locations we have chosen. Dinners will be in Beaune where we'll have a nice selection of some of the region's famous gastronomy. There's nothing like a meal of Boeuf Bourguinon accompanied by a hearty Burgundy wine to give you a taste of the very heart and spirit of this fabulous region! I'll be coordinating our travel plans so that we all arrive at approximately the same time at Charles de Gaulle for our bus ride to our hotel.

Plan on leaving the US on the 6th of September to arrive in France on the 7th and plan your departing flight on the 16th as late in the afternoon as you can. Contact me for more specifics about travel but please take the time to look over my web site, particularly the FAQ
